Working in Ibiza in hospitality: the complete guide for the 2026 season
Ibiza has a reputation for being the highest-paying hospitality season destination in Spain. It's not a myth — the Ibiza and Formentera hospitality collective agreement (ALEH) is consistently one of the highest in the country. But there's a catch: the cost of living, especially housing, can wipe out the salary advantage if you don't arrive fully organised.
Why it pays more than the rest of Spain
The ALEH agreement (Hospitality Business Association of Ibiza and Formentera) negotiates salaries above other Spanish provincial agreements. In 2025–2026, minimum agreement salaries are approximately:
- Waiter/waitress: ~€1,550 gross/month
- Line cook: ~€1,700–1,900 gross/month by category
- Receptionist: ~€1,600–1,800 gross/month
- Bartender: ~€1,500–1,650 gross/month
Add tips on top. At well-known Ibiza beach clubs, waiters can accumulate €500–1,000 extra in July and August in tips alone.
The housing problem
A room rental in Ibiza during season costs between €700 and €1,400/month depending on area and type. Options: accommodation-included job offers (most sought-after), shared flat with co-workers (most common — look in February–March), or campsite bungalow (cheaper but less comfortable).
The main mistake people make is arriving in May without accommodation sorted. Some manage. Many leave in June without having found decent housing.
When to look for work
- December–January: key profiles (head chefs, head waiters, receptionists with languages). If you have experience, this is your window.
- February–March: the main hiring wave. Most seasonal staff is contracted in these weeks.
- April–May: last-minute positions, usually more basic profiles.
English in Ibiza: real level needed
Ibiza receives tourists from across Europe, with German, English and Italian being the dominant markets. For floor work at a reference beach club or restaurant, fluent English is practically mandatory. German is a clear differentiator. If you have both, you'll have more and better offers.
