Nautical jobs in Menorca and Formentera: 2026 opportunities
Menorca and Formentera are the hidden gems of Balearic nautical employment. Less competition, clients who appreciate calm waters, and scenery that takes your breath away. I've done several seasons hopping between all four islands and here's why these two deserve your attention.
Menorca: quiet and exclusive nautical scene
Menorca offers a different nautical profile to Ibiza or Mallorca. With calmer waters, less overcrowding and higher-spending tourism, the island attracts private owners and boutique charter companies. On Yemplea you can filter offers specifically for these islands.
Main marinas
- Port of Mahón — One of the largest natural harbours in the world. Base for charters and cruising sailboats
- Ciutadella Marina — Historic port with luxury charters and excursions
- Cala en Bosc — Tourist marina with rental activity
Season
Shorter than Ibiza: June to September. Hiring is concentrated in May and early June.
Formentera: boutique charter
Formentera doesn't have large marinas, but its crew demand comes from luxury charter vessels anchoring in its crystal-clear waters. Many boats operate from Ibiza but sail to Formentera daily.

- Day charters from Ibiza with stops in Formentera
- Catamaran and sailboat excursions
- Tender service and auxiliary vessels
Most in-demand positions
- Charter skipper: PPER + local experience + languages

How to find work
- Register on Yemplea and select Menorca or Formentera as your preferred area
- Contact local charter companies — many hire for the full season
- Prior experience in Ibiza or Mallorca is highly valued for these islands
