Accommodation in Ibiza is probably the biggest headache of any season. I've been through impossible shared flats, living on board and everything in between. Here's what actually works.

The accommodation problem in the Balearics

If you're coming from outside the Balearics to work the season, accommodation will be one of your biggest challenges. According to the Yemplea community, prices have skyrocketed in recent years and supply is limited. Planning ahead is essential.

Accommodation options

Living on board

If your contract includes on-board accommodation, it's the best economic option. You save 100% on rent. It's most common with seasonal contracts and yachts over 24 meters.

Shared room

The most common option for day workers and crew with short contracts. WhatsApp and Facebook groups for crew in Ibiza/Palma are the best resource.

  • Ibiza town / Marina Botafoch: €500 – €800/month per room
  • San Antonio: €400 – €600/month per room
  • Palma centre: €450 – €700/month per room
  • Santa Catalina (Palma): €500 – €750/month per room

Shared apartment

Renting an apartment between 3-4 crew members reduces costs. Total price for a 2-bedroom apartment ranges from €1,200 to €2,000/month in central areas.

When to search

Start looking in February-March. By April there are few options left in the most popular areas. If you wait until May, you'll pay tourist prices.

Practical tips

  • Prioritize proximity to the port where you'll work
  • Negotiate 4-5 month contracts for better pricing
  • Avoid Airbnb for long stays (inflated prices)
  • Ask your employer: many charter companies have agreements with local landlords
  • Join Facebook groups "Crew Housing Ibiza" and "Crew Accommodation Palma"
