First Mate Required, 22m classic sailing yacht Permanent Position | Private Yacht | Mediterranean | Start: Mid-September 2026 (Flexible) Our season includes cruising, classic regattas, owner use and a structured winter maintenance period. The yacht is maintained to a very high standard, with well-established maintenance systems and a strong emphasis on professionalism and teamwork. The Mate works closely with the Captain and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the deck department. Responsibilities include: Sailing operations and passage preparation Regatta preparation Deck maintenance and presentation Rig, deck hardware and equipment maintenance Safety equipment inspections and servicing Inventory management Spare parts and deck stores Planned maintenance scheduling Maintaining the yacht to an exceptional standard During the Captain's leave throughout the winter, the Mate will oversee contractors, monitor the progress of scheduled work, and communicate with the Captain regarding technical or operational decisions when required. Shoreside accommodation with crew vehicle, crew bikes, workshop and race trailer. We are looking for someone who is Positive and motivated Organised and self-managing Practical and hands-on Professional with owners, guests and contractors Strong communicator Takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards Enjoys classic yachts and traditional craftsmanship Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility Qualifications Essential Strong sailing background Yachtmaster Offshore Drivers licence Desirable Regatta experience (bow) Mechanical knowledge Winter yard management experience Experience towing a 3.5 ton trailer and supporting licence The successful candidate will ideally join during the final Mediterranean regattas, allowing a full handover with the current Mate before the winter maintenance period and the 2027 Mediterranean season.
